Why Chinese search on X is unreliable, and queries you can paste
TL;DR:Long Chinese sentences often return nothing because tokenization is unreliable. Start with lang:zh, add two or three short words, and use -filter:replies to drop replies. The extension popup’s “中文高级搜索” opens a ready-made query. The search itself still runs on x.com.
Why it happens
X search often returns nothing for a full Chinese sentence: it tokenizes on its own, so a long line or a different word order misses. lang:zh only matches posts X labeled Chinese, so Chinese posts with a missing language tag are left out. The operators have to be typed by hand, and the default results are full of replies. x-pro.club does not keep its own Chinese search index.
Native X vs x-pro.club
| Native X | x-pro.club |
|---|---|
| A full Chinese sentence often returns nothing | This guide gives short-keyword templates. The extension does not build another index |
| Results are full of replies | The popup shortcut opens lang:zh -filter:replies |
| You have to remember from, min_faves, and dates | The templates below can be pasted into the search box |
How to do it
- Open search — Use the search box on x.com, or click “中文高级搜索” in the extension popup. That row opens https://x.com/search?q=lang%3Azh%20-filter%3Areplies&f=live .
- Limit the language, then use short words — Start the query with lang:zh. Do not paste a paragraph. Split it into two or three words you know will appear. English quotes can pin a fixed phrase, but quoted Chinese does not always match.
- Drop replies, then narrow — Add -filter:replies to drop replies. Add min_faves:100 for posts with many likes. To see one account, replace handle in from:handle with the username and leave off the @.
- Add dates when you need a window — since:2026-01-01 starts on that day. until:2026-02-01 does not include February 1. Write dates as YYYY-MM-DD. X changes search behavior; the live results page wins.
