How to hide retweets in X lists (and keep profiles readable)
TL;DR:X gives you no way to strip retweets out of a List, and profile tabs mix reposts into your own posts. x-pro hides the noisy accounts with filter rules stored on your device, and tags every post as original / repost / quote in the merged profile view.
Why it happens
A List is where you curate a topic — and half of it is other people's reposts. X only offers a separate Reposts tab on your home timeline, so inside a List the noise stays. Profiles have the same problem in reverse: X mixes your retweets into your posts, and nothing labels which is which.
Native X vs x-pro.club
| Native X | x-pro.club |
|---|---|
| No split inside Lists — you get everything | Filter rules hide by author or keyword, and they apply to Lists and the timeline alike |
| Profiles mix your tweets and reposts together | The merged view labels every post as original, repost or quote |
| Without an extension you mute or unfollow one account at a time | Write the rule once and every List and the timeline follows it |
How to do it
- Open the extension’s content filter — Extension settings → Content filter → add a rule. Rules live on your own machine only.
- Add the noisy accounts — Pick an author rule and enter the handle, or use a keyword rule; matches drop out of the stream, on the timeline and inside every List alike.
- Undo it in one click — “Restore hidden content on this page” in the filter bar brings them straight back; the rules stay in the settings, editable anytime.
- Label merged profile views — Turn on “主页合并推文与转推” and every post on a profile gets an original / repost / quote badge, so a merged stream stays readable.
FAQ
- How do I hide retweets in an X list?
- With filter rules: add the retweeting account (or a keyword) in the extension’s content filter panel, and that account’s posts disappear from every List and from the home timeline.
- Does the filter also work on the home timeline?
- Yes — the same rules apply to the home timeline and to every List, and they are stored locally on your device.
- Can I still see the posts I retweeted?
- Yes. Rules only hide what they match — hit “Restore hidden content on this page” in the filter bar to bring them back. The merged profile view also tags every post as original / repost / quote, so the retweets are easy to spot.
- How do I tell reposts apart from my own posts on a profile?
- Turn on the merged profile view and every post gets a type badge (original, repost or quote) next to the author name.
